Your Email Unsubscribe List – What To Do When Someone Leaves

List building is the heart of your online business and when you have an email unsubscribe, recognize that it’s a part of the business!

Do you experience a little pang of panic each time someone unsubscribes from your list?

If you’re running an online biz and building a list, then you are most likely using Aweber or another autoresponder service to manage your opt-ins.

If you don’t have one, you’re not running a business.
List building involves not only the day-to-day tasks involved with growing your business, but it also comes with the emotional highs and lows that are inherent in making money online.

One of them is people unsubscribing from your list.

When I first started in this business, I would be genuinely hurt and upset when I had an email unsubscribe from my list. I would think:
- Don’t they like my content?
- Are my emails informative enough?
- What should I add that will make them want to stay?
- What can I do differently?

- Maybe I’m not cut out for this business!

It’s important to remember that you’re not going to please everyone in this business. People will come and go, every single day. But, keep your focus on building your list and offering tremendous value. From there you’ll build a relationship with your traffic, but let’s first work on your list building efforts.

Unsubscribes are a part of the business – there’s no way around it.
Losing subscribers comes with the territory and it’s a normal part of your online business. Think of it this way, if someone unsubscribes, then they’re not going to be long-term clients anyway and will likely never spend money on your products.
Unsubscribes simply refine your list.
It’s a lot like separating the wheat from the chafe, only the good stuff is left behind. The people who stay are the ones who want to learn more and are eager to move forward. Those who leave your mailing list are the ones who simply wanted your free offer or did not find what they were looking for – and will look elsewhere.

Don’t take it personally when someone decides to leave your list. It’s all a part of the list building business. When you consistently provide your subscribers with valuable information and informative content (and an occasional worthwhile freebie – everyone loves freebies), then you’re building a foundation for long-term success. You can’t expect to get people to join your mailing list and then bombard them with emails containing affiliate links and junk. People are far more saavy than they were in the 90′s when internet marketing was new. They no longer fall for the junk email schemes.

Leave that stuff to the fly-by-nighters – they won’t be around long anyway.

You’re building a solid online business and because you provide your cherished subscribers with awesome, helpful content, they will reward you for years to come. Do your research! A well-educated internet marketer who knows their business will have their subscribers begging for more.

List building takes work and effort, but the results will pay you for years to come.  So, don’t sweat the email unsubscribes, there will be more to take their place.
