Life Lesson From An Unlikely Source
Life lessons have a way of blessing us with valuable experiences when we least expect it.
I just returned from my walk in the woods with my little Corgi, Kendall. It’s a wonderful way for me to step away from the computer to connect with nature.
I always have such a close connection with the trees. I feel their vibrant energy all around me which is one reason why I love the forest so much.
This morning as we walked along, I stopped to look up and admire the rays of the sun as they made their way through the branches of the trees to the forest floor.
Now that it’s spring, the buds are starting to appear and a green hue is slowly making its way back to the forest landscape.
As I looked up, I noticed a leaf falling from high above. It had long since died on the branch but was just now letting go to make its way to the forest floor.
I began to think what a tough leaf it was to hang on for so long, even after it had died and long after all of the other leaves had made their final journey to the ground below.
Watching that little leaf made me think of all the times in my life when I held on to the past, not wanting to let go. Even when I was unhappy and wanted to move forward, I held on. I guess I was afraid of change and of the unknown.
Perhaps like that little leaf.
That stubborn leaf reminded me that, time and time again, when I do let go and allow change to happen, I never regret it. I’ve also learned that letting go of the past, which no longer serves me, allows me to experience new and exciting gifts that life has to offer.
I guess it’s a lot like standing in front of a doorway. Unless you turn the doorknob and open the door, you can’t move forward, only backward – to the past.
Maybe that little leaf realized that once it let go, it would allow the bud under it to grow again, and the leaf would experience new life.
Just as we experience new life when we let go of the past.
When we release the past, we spring forward into new possibilities and exciting destinies. We enjoy new life lessons and surround ourselves with beautiful scenery that’s been waiting patiently for us, all ours just for letting go.
The challenge of starting and growing an online business can be scary indeed. Unfortunately, most never make it past the door, for fear of failing. It’s when we allow ourselves the freedom to spring forward into the unknown that we realize our true potential, and that there was nothing holding us back after all, except fear.
What a great life life lesson I learned, all from a little leaf.
